Walking in to Coastal Church one Sunday, I spotted my friend David. He greeted me and immediately said: "You need to talk to Gaby. She's thinking about getting her wedding dress made." He waved Gaby over, who was nearby, and introduced us. We sat down for coffee a short time later to discuss her dream dress and the possibility of me crafting it for her. After some time and prayer, she decided to trust me with the project.
This was my first dress working with an acquaintance rather than a close friend. I knew of Gaby at church and we had talked at times, yet I didn't know her well. This dress quickly changed all that; it was such a delight to not only design and make a wedding dress but gain a friend. Each fitting was more like spinning yarns and giving/receiving encouragement than work and it was just as comfortable a process as it had been with my lovely Kiwi mates.
Classy, elegant, traditional-with-a-twist, soft, romantic.
